Printing, Publishing and Media Workers

As a result of the 1987 merger of the International Typographical Union (ITU) into CWA, our union represents workers at a diverse range of printing, publishing and media occupations in daily newspapers; commercial printing and mailing operations; graphic design; specialty manufacturing, publishing and distribution; and the U.S. Government Printing Office.

Journalists and workers in advertising, circulation and other business offices are represented through our NewsGuild-CWA sector.

Union Label

cwa printing union bug

Look for the familiar printing label, also known as a bug, on printed materials. The bug guarantees that the men and women who work on your printed materials receive decent wages and benefits in plants which practice responsible labor-management relations. When you patronize union plants you are helping to maintain the union advantage in the printing industry. CWA members work at both CWA Label and some Allied Label companies.

Find a Union Printer

Use cwaprintshops.com to find a CWA Label union printer, and work directly with them going forward. Use the site to find competitive quotes for all of your printing needs. The site was originally a project of CWA New York Local 14156 to make it easier and faster for you to obtain competitive quotes from CWA union printers.

Workers at Allied Label companies are represented by the Printing, Publishing, and Media Workers of the Communications Workers of America or the Graphic Communications Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Visit alliedlabel.org to find an Allied Label union printer.
