Get Paid And Treated Fairly In The Print Industry

Welcome to CWA Local 14156, the New York Typographical Union. Our local represents members in the newspaper, printing, digital, media and technology fields, spanning the state from New York City and Long Island to Albany. Our members are employed at The New York Times, The Daily News, New York Post, New York Law Journal, World Journal, Newsday, RRDonnelley, the Albany Times-Union and a broad range of independent companies offering a variety of media services. Our union-represented companies also participate in CWAPrintShops, a gateway for CWA union printing, publishing and media companies throughout the country.

We are graphic artists, journalists, web designers, I.T. specialists, commercial printers, advertising sales representatives, mailers, proofreaders, newspaper layout designers and more. Our local represents hourly employees, salaried employees and freelancers. We have our own health care fund. We provide dental, vision and a choice of premium HMO plans to our members. We have a portable national pension plan. The ITU Negotiated Pension Plan, a multi-employer pension plan has been in existence for more than thirty years. We're flexible. We know that the issues you face today aren't the same ones that your parents had.

Our parent organization, the Communications Workers of America, represents over 550,000 members not just in communications and information industries, but also media, the airlines, television, public service, higher education, health care, manufacturing, public safety, law enforcement and more. Our mission is to represent our members by creating the best environment and adapting to their needs in an ever-changing workplace. We accomplish this by organizing, servicing and participating in the public conversation regarding social issues that affect working people.
